An announcement from the Chair of Trustees, Royal Association for Deaf people: Toby Burton

I am delighted to announce that the Board of Trustees has appointed a new interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Royal Association for Deaf people (RAD). Craig Crowley will support the organisation’s transition whilst the Board work on the recruitment of a permanent CEO.

Craig is a highly experienced, successful and well-regarded leader within the third sector and Deaf organisations.

He comes to us from Action Deafness, a service provider organisation for Deaf people based in Leicestershire, where he has been CEO for the past twelve years.

Craig is currently Chair of UK Council on Deafness (UKCOD). He, alongside his Board, advocates for member organisations with parliamentarians to support campaign issues affecting Deafness and hearing loss within the UK.

We are fortunate to gain a leader with Craig’s varied in-depth experience. The Board is confident he will deliver the leadership needed to help RAD to continue to deliver its ambitious Strategic Plan during this interim period.

Craig Crowley commented: “It is a privilege to be taking on this role and represent one of the UK’s oldest and well respected Deaf organisations. I look forward to working with the RAD Board, Senior Management and the staff to collectively ensure the organisation continues to achieve its vision: Together with Deaf people; creating a better, more accessible future”.

Craig will become Chief Executive Officer on 1st January 2018.
